There are no scheduled appointments at Teen Klinic. Everyone is seen on a walk-in basis. Service is limited to the number of clients who can be seen during the 4 hour clinic.

What is Teen Klinic?

Teen Klinic is a time set aside to provide services specifically to youth. Our goal is to make our service accessible to you. This service is open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 20.

Who can come to Teen Klinic?

Teen Klinic is open to anyone ages 12 - 20. No one will judge you because of your age, gender, appearance or your sexual orientation.

Who will I see at Teen Klinic?

There are counsellors, nurse practitioners and physicians available to meet whatever needs you might have. If you have never been to Klinic, you will be seen by a counsellor first, then, if appropriate, you will see a nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician. You do not have to see a counsellor at every visit.

Will I have to pay?

Yes, becasue not all services are covered by Manitoba Health. All costs for birth control including condoms are offered at low cost. If you are unable to pay the cost please talk to Klinic staff.

Who will know that I came to Klinic?

  • Services at Klinic are confidential. This means that your visit is just between you and your health care providers. You do not need the consent of your parent or guardian.
  • The only exception to Klinic's confidentiality policy would be in the case of a young person being at risk and in need of protection.
  • Your records are available only to Klinic staff directly involved in your care. You will have a chart that you may request with your service provider.
  • It is important to use your legal name as it appears on your health card (no nick names or slang please) when you come to klinic.
  • If you wish, you may bring a friend, parent, or guardian with you to Klinic.

What services are available?

  • Morning after pill (most effective if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex and has decreased effectiveness if taken up to 120 hours after unprotected sex)
  • Birth control
  • Pregnancy tests
  • STD testing (including HIV)
  • Pap tests
  • Abortion referrals
  • Medical examinations
  • General health care
  • PN Care/Post natal Care

Counselling Services

  • Birth control counselling
  • Unplanned pregnancy counselling (Adoption / Abortion / Parenting)
  • HIV Pre-test counselling
  • Sexual assault counselling
  • Crisis counselling

Will we call you at home?

Yes, Klinic staff may call you at the phone numbers you have provided. They will only contact you if there is a problem with your test results.
