Health Services - Our Service Providers

Health services are provided by an inter-professional team. Staff team members include:

Physicians:

Doctors provide general family medicine and may provide expertise in specialties such as obstetrics, HIV treatment, Hepatitis C treatment, treatment of latent TB infections.

Nurse Practitioners:

Advanced-practice nurses (including patient examination, assessment, management, and prescription medications) provide health care in a holistic manner, emphasizing individualized health education, advocacy, and health promotion.

Primary Health Care Nurses:

Nurses provide care to clients within the clinic and in the clients homes when required. Nurses may be working independently in services such as STI Klinic, Pap Klinic, and the latent TB infection program.

Reproductive Health Nurse:

Nurses provide unplanned pregnancy consultation (adoption / abortion / parenting), as well as providing HIV and STI couselling and education.

Social Worker:

Social workers provide counselling, support, advocacy and education to assist individuals, families, groups, and the community in addressing the social issues that they face.

Dietitians:

Dietitians provide education and counselling regarding nutrition and health.

Laboratory Technologists & Laboratory Assistants:

 Lab staff provides blood collection services.  Lab staff obtains samples and processes various samples and specimens for on-site testing as well as for off-site testing. 

Medical Assistants:

Staff who provide assistance to doctors and nurses and provide advocacy and support to clients.

Community Workers:

Staff who provide practical assistance, advocacy and support for clients in the community as directed by Klinic physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses.

Health Services at Klinic Community Health Centre is a teaching site for learners associated with the University of Manitoba Department of Family Medicine and Faculty of Nursing.
There will be times when you will be seen by one of the following learners in consultations with your regular health care provider:

Medical Residents

A recently graduated doctor training for a family medicine specialty.

Medical Student:

A doctor-in-training.

Nurse Practitioner Student:

A registered nurse training in advanced practice nursing.

Nursing Student:

A nurse-in-training.
