Life In Balance

Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation is a practice of settling the mind and body. By learning to sit with our own thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations without judgement we can respond to life’s many ups and downs rather than react to stressful situations in old, unwise habitual patterns.
Participants will learn simple sitting and walking meditation in group sessions as well as explore opportunities for informal practice in daily life. Together we will experience the art of “being”. Participants are welcome to come as often as they want.

Qigong
Qigong (pronounced chee gong) is gentle movements that are done for health and to learn meditation. If practiced regularly you can develop a flow of energy through and around your body that helps clear away stress and calm the mind. Qigong can help the process of recovery from illness and to feel more peaceful.
Qigong goes back thousands of years and is considered part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The form of Qigong offered at Klinic is called Chaoyi Fanhuan Qigong (CFQ). It is easy to learn and fun to practice.  If you have restricted movement or health challenges, you will not have any trouble learning CFQ and deriving benefits from it.

Calm in the Storm: Coping with the Stresses of Life
Everyone talks about stress but do you really know enough about it, what it is and what you can do about it?  Stress is a reaction to situations that are perceived to be challenges, changes, threats or even opportunities.  It is our reaction, such as our thoughts and behaviour, to events rather than the events themselves that cause stress.  Stress can also affect our physical health and prolonged stress reactions can result in illness.
This ninety minute interactive workshop explores the meaning of stress, its effect on health, and most importantly how to mindfully cope with stress and de-stress so you can enjoy life more. The workshop also explores sources of strength in difficult times, as well as what mental health really is; you might be surprised at what you discover.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgement.  Essential to BEING, mindfulness invites you to be fully present, open and available to yourself and others. It seeks to cultivate deeper knowledge and trust of self, enable you to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully and raise awareness of the body, mind and emotions.
The MBSR that Klinic offers is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program developed by Dr. Kabat Zinn from the University of Massachusetts, Faculty of Medicine. The 8-week program is designed as an intensive training program that asks participants to draw on their own inner capacity to actively engage in caring for themselves and finding a greater sense of balance, ease and peace of mind.
